Lorna Flowers
I am an RN with a BSN degree. I’ve been a nurse for over 25 years. I decided that since I was nearing retirement age I would achieve my dream of becoming a health coach. I want to help people stay out of the Emergency rooms where I worked and routinely witnessed people die from preventable causes. Especially Diabetes.
In 2002 I had uncontrolled Hypertension and was unknowingly Prediabetic. Fear of dying from a heart attack or stroke weighed heavy on me. I found a way that I felt I could lose weight and stick with it. I also found exercise videos that I loved doing daily. After about five months I lost 45 pounds and all my numbers were within normal range.
The fear of dying motivated me to stick with my plan, but it took a lot of work and the payout was worth it. Now 20 years on, I’m still fighting to stay healthy and keep Diabetes at bay. It still takes work and a strong commitment to self to stay healthy. Sometimes it’s hard and I have to fight to get back on track. No one is perfect. We only have one life though, why not live it well?
My goal is to help women in their 50s and 60s diagnosed with Prediabetes uncover ways to reverse their situation and discover new behaviors within 90 days so that they can live full lives without the complications and struggles associated with Diabetes.
